Photographing a key

When you order a key blank by photo, we need two photos. One photo of the front of the key and one of the back. You do not need to reduce the size of the photo files. It is also okay to make photocopies of the key and to send it by postal mail. Finally, it is also okay to make digital scans of the key. In that case you can email your photo files or PDF documents to us or send printouts by postal mail.

Send your photos to the email address foto@keyprof.com, specifying the order number. Send only photo's to this address. Emails to this adress without an order number will not be answered.

Photographing a key

  • Do not photograph the key from too close by, because a lot of camera's are unable to automatically focus. Use a distance of about 30 centimeters. That the key will appear smaller is okay, the photo usually has enough detail. If the camera does not focus, place the key in the center of the frame or place a newspaper/magazine under the key.
  • Lean on some support while making the photo, so that the camera does not move. For example, support your arms on a stack of books or place your elbows on the surface.
  • Ensure adequate lighting. Shoot outside or near a lightsource.
  • Photograph the key under a slight angle, so that details on the metal surface are better visible.

We do not provide support on making or sending photo's.
