Lock restoration

We restore car and motorcycle locks and cylinder locks in general. We restore the functioning of the lock and provide one working key. Optionally, you can order more working keys. The restoration is aimed at restoring the usability, no attention is given to the outside of the lock.

Your lock will be restored in a professional manner and it will last for years. Keyprof Luke has restored thousands of locks and is known as the trusted locksmith of classic car country.

The quality of the lock determines the extent to which its functionality can be restored. Usually we are able to restore the full functionality of the lock. If the lock is in too poor a condition, we can not restore the full functionality. It happens only rarely, but when the lock is heavily worn or when the plug/keyhole is damaged then the lock cannot be restored. The plug is the rotating part containing the keyhole.

Ignition locks also include electrical contacts. Normally we do not consider these electrical contacts. If you want us to check the electrical contacts and - if defective - repair them please indicate this on the order form.

We do not sell locks or lock components.

Examples of locks that are being restored

Making locks keyed alike

Locks are keyed alike when they can opened with one and the same key. This provides ease of use, of course. It is possible to make locks keyed alike when the keyhole is the same. When the keyhole is the same the key can be inserted into any of the locks.

Recoding

Recoding modifies the lock such that it can be opened with a key that is cut differently (different bitting). The old key will no longer work. Recoding is useful when a key is lost and you want to make it impossible to get access to the vehicle with that key.

We can recode a lock in four different ways. 1. To a key. Send the key along with the lock that is going to be restored. 2. To a key code. Use this option only if you are sure you have the correct key code. 3. To a key code choosen randomly by us. 4. To another lock. Also send us the other lock. Use this option only if you do not have a key. We will also need to open the second lock. So you will also pay for the restoration of the second lock. In any case, you will receive one working key.
